PAST LIVES
Q:
Is there
benefit is knowing about past lives?
In this area the understanding that is desired is to first know if you
had a past life. Here, the belief system of the individual person comes
into play. Some people may believe in reincarnation; others may not.
Some may place value in past lives; others may not. Some desire to know
of their past lives; others do not.
In the Gladys concept past lives are accepted as a part of each person’s
makeup. Each person has a life energy and a mind power. The life energy
may or may not have had an experience in living previously. If the life
energy had experiences living previously, it may have had one or more
past life experiences.
The value and benefit in knowing about one’s past life has to do with
whether one is aware in this living experience of previous life
experiences. This is to say, should I know about my past life(lives)?
The benefit is in the knowing part of the mind. If there is benefit from
a past life experience, the knowing part of the mind pulls forth
information when it would be of value. An example might be: you have an
interest in studying herbs and healing. You find you have an ability to
understand and recognize what the herbs are capable of providing in the
area of healing. You find that you receive great enjoyment from the
experience of feeling, touching and smelling the herbs. It is very
possible that you had a past life experience that was involved in
exactly the same subject. Another example might be: you have musical
talent. It seems to simply come to you. You play, you memorize, you
improvise, and you entertain others. It is very possible that you had
musical abilities in a past life. Those abilities are being drawn into
this life because the experiences will add value and benefit to your
living today. These experiences are part of the memory in your knowing
mind. If there is no benefit in drawing these memories forth, they will not
come forth.

Q: Gladys has said in the past that a person does not bring anything
negative from past lives into the present. Other spiritual teachers
indicate the influence of karma from past lives. How does Gladys respond
to this?
What I wish for you to understand is that many belief systems have many
beliefs. When a person has experienced a past life or lives, what is of
benefit and value during that past life or lives may be brought forward
into this present life as a bonus. Only what is of benefit is brought
forward.
When a person dies, his life energy and mind power leave the body (the
physical container). The life energy, depending upon the expansion that
has been experienced during the life that is just ending, will go on to
another area of expansion or will be cleansed and return for another
experience in living as we know it. I say depending upon, because as we
live our lives and experience freedom in living, experience living
without fear, and experience peace of mind, our life energy expands. If
the life energy has experienced such expansion and is ready to go on to
the next level of expansion, which is a part of the Universe, it will
not come back for another experience in living on earth. If this
expansion has not occurred, than the life energy will form with another
mind power and come back to experience living on earth once again in a
physical body.
Mind power is only power. The life energy is the essence of living. The
life energy in joining with a mind power is a unique individual. Each
time a life energy returns and joins yet another mind power another
unique individual is created. Hence there are no bad memories for one
individual to carry from one life to another because that unique
individual never exists again.
As I said, only what is of benefit and value is brought forth as an
added bonus into today.
If one wishes to believe in karma, then one may feel very “obliged” to
say bad things are happening because of karma and that we cannot do
anything about it! We must remember that we all have a choice in how we
feel, whether we wish to feel better or worse, whether we wish to live a
life of value, or whether we wish to not live a life of value. When one
has the baggage of the belief in karma, then it can be just that: karma
as in, “I have no choice.” We each have free will and with that free
will, we either make a difference or we don’t make a difference in this
living experience. It is our choice and we have chosen it. It is not
chosen by something from a past life.
Yes, you have a choice in whether to accept this explanation or whether
to reject it. It is your choice.
